Capstone Thesis Projects

As the culmination of my time at Howard University's Cathy Hughes School of Communications, I embarked on the journey of completing two long-term reporting projects. Over the course of four months, I carefully crafted two stories (one written and one multimedia) from pitch to publication. On April 22nd, I was able to present about my reporting journey and share excerpts from the 15-minute podcast and the 2200-word story.

I also served as co-editor-in-chief for the Capstone class. In this role, I edited the weekly HU News Service stories of other students and provided editorial direction for our "Reimagined Futures" Capstone website.

Our Institution: Student Voices on Cops Off Campus Movements

Since the summer of 2020, the national Defund the Police and abolition movements have gained the attention of media, government, law enforcement, and citizens alike. While the general movement focuses on local police departments, hundreds of young adults have started Cops Off Campus campaigns (and a national coalition) to bring these philosophies to their colleges and universities. In this podcast for Reimagined Futures, Ahmari Anthony reports on the challenges that they’ve faced, the progress that they’ve made, and the vision that they have for the future.
